Test Text Resizing to 200 Percent

Published by whatisADA / Grow Wild Agency · Updated

Purpose and preparation

Review whether text can be enlarged to twice its original size without losing content or functionality. Use a documented browser and check both reading content and controls with constrained dimensions. Keep this test separate from the narrower reflow test.

A practical example

An account page contains a narrow billing card, a renewal button and a help tooltip. Enlarged text must remain readable and actionable.

How to check it

  1. Record the default viewport and text size. Increase text to 200 percent using an appropriate browser zoom or text-resize setting and document which method you used.
  2. Inspect headings, buttons, inputs, error messages and cards for clipping, overlap or lost labels. Open content that was initially collapsed.
  3. Complete a short task at the enlarged size. Record any information or action that disappears and capture its default and enlarged states.

What can be missed

A fixed-height button can retain its outline while losing half its label. Check actual text and functionality, not just whether the page still looks organized.

Record your test

Use this worksheet to record what you actually checked. Notes stay on this device when you choose Save; they are not sent to us. Avoid personal or confidential information on shared devices.

These are your observations, not automated results or a conformance certificate. A complete evaluation needs appropriate scope, supported technologies, all applicable criteria and relevant page states.
