Audit a WordPress Form Plugin Output

Published by whatisADA / Grow Wild Agency · Updated

Purpose and preparation

Test the complete form produced by the site's configured plugin and theme. Record the plugin version, custom styles and submission destination. Use a test form or sandbox so validation checks do not send real requests.

A practical example

A contact form includes required fields, a consent checkbox and an anti-spam step.

How to check it

  1. Inspect visible labels, instructions and programmatic associations in the rendered page. Include fields generated by conditional logic or an integration.
  2. Submit empty and invalid test values. Check error identification, focus behavior and whether valid answers survive correction.
  3. Complete a permitted test submission and verify the confirmation. Review the anti-spam challenge and any third-party controls separately.

What can be missed

A plugin's accessibility claim may not cover your theme overrides, custom fields or anti-spam configuration. Record those dependencies with each issue.

Record your test

Use this worksheet to record what you actually checked. Notes stay on this device when you choose Save; they are not sent to us. Avoid personal or confidential information on shared devices.

These are your observations, not automated results or a conformance certificate. A complete evaluation needs appropriate scope, supported technologies, all applicable criteria and relevant page states.

Primary sources and scope

This is independent implementation guidance with original examples. The linked standard contains the full definitions, exceptions and conformance requirements. A criterion or checklist alone does not establish legal applicability or whole-site conformance.
