Purpose and preparation
Use VoiceOver on macOS with Safari to review page structure, control names and a short task. Record the browser, operating system, VoiceOver settings and whether keyboard navigation is enabled for the controls being tested.
A practical example
Find a help article through the navigation, expand its related questions, then follow a contact link.
How to check it
- Enable VoiceOver and inspect the page title and main content. Use the rotor to compare available headings, links and landmarks with the intended organization.
- Navigate through the chosen task using VoiceOver commands. Check the names and states of collapsed sections, buttons and form fields.
- Activate an internal route or dialog and verify the new context is announced. Record the spoken output and the control that should receive focus.
What can be missed
Safari keyboard preferences can affect ordinary Tab navigation. Keep that configuration in the evidence so a browser preference is not confused with a site defect.
