Review Squarespace Content and Layout Accessibility

Published by whatisADA / Grow Wild Agency · Updated

Purpose and preparation

Review the site's published content structure and responsive layout after editing in Squarespace. Record the site version and any custom CSS. Focus on the blocks and content decisions that visitors encounter in the chosen task.

A practical example

A landing page uses overlapping blocks, image-based promotional text and a form beneath a large banner.

How to check it

  1. Inspect the heading structure, links and image alternatives in the rendered page. Replace essential image-only text with real content where practical.
  2. Review block overlap at mobile width and enlarged text. Check that the reading order and visible order still communicate the same relationships.
  3. Navigate the page and form with the keyboard, including error states. Verify that custom CSS has not hidden focus or clipped labels.

What can be missed

A layout that looks balanced in the editor may overlap differently on mobile. Default platform behavior can also be changed by custom CSS and third-party blocks.

Record your test

Use this worksheet to record what you actually checked. Notes stay on this device when you choose Save; they are not sent to us. Avoid personal or confidential information on shared devices.

These are your observations, not automated results or a conformance certificate. A complete evaluation needs appropriate scope, supported technologies, all applicable criteria and relevant page states.

Primary sources and scope

This is independent implementation guidance with original examples. The linked standard contains the full definitions, exceptions and conformance requirements. A criterion or checklist alone does not establish legal applicability or whole-site conformance.
