Purpose and preparation
Choose pages and states that cover the product's important structures and complete processes. Document why each item is included and what remains outside scope. Use a recognized evaluation methodology when making conformance claims.
A practical example
An audit includes a product template, search filters, a complete checkout and a sample of unusual editorial pages.
How to check it
- Start from the inventory and identify common pages, essential tasks, distinct technologies and content variations. Record the target standard and evaluation boundary.
- Select structured samples and appropriate additional samples using the chosen methodology. Include all views needed to complete selected processes.
- Review the sample with the product owner and record exclusions and limitations. Expand it when testing reveals a new component, state or recurring defect.
What can be missed
A small set of popular pages may miss a blocking account or payment step. Sampling reduces work but does not justify conclusions beyond the evaluated scope.
