# Completed limited-review scope: What Is ADA tools

Assembled October 19, 2026 by Grow Wild / What Is ADA from retained October 19 records. This is a retrospective evidence summary, not a new evaluation, client audit, conformance statement or scope agreed in advance.

## Completed work

Purpose: check selected tool behavior and an error-recovery journey on tools we maintain.
Property: https://whatisada.com
Views: /tools/heading-validator and /tools/color-contrast-checker. These do not form a representative sample of the whole site.
Task: locate a malformed heading sample, submit, inspect/read the result, return to input, correct and revalidate. NVDA reached the download link; activation was not tested.
Other checks: nine synthetic heading inputs and six opaque sRGB color pairs.
Technical target: selected behavior only. Every WCAG 2.2 A/AA criterion was not evaluated. No conformance level is established.

## Evidence and environments

### Nine synthetic heading inputs

Record: https://whatisada.com/downloads/heading-validator-examples.json
Explanation: https://whatisada.com/tools/heading-validator
Tested revision: Not recorded in this fixture file
Environment: See tool explanation; fixture file itself does not record an environment.

Limits: Independent calculation compared with browser results; not an actual-page contrast audit.

### Keyboard error-recovery journey

Record: https://whatisada.com/downloads/keyboard-heading-test-record.json
Explanation: https://whatisada.com/workflows/keyboard-only-full-flow#worked-example

Limits: Browser keyboard and focus observations; no screen reader; browser engine version not exposed.

### Actual NVDA error-recovery journey

Record: https://whatisada.com/downloads/nvda-heading-test-record.json
Explanation: https://whatisada.com/workflows/nvda-first-pass#worked-example
Tested revision: 01beb11e33e9b01733417acaa231ff73984a64ec
Environment: {"os": "Windows Server 2022 Datacenter", "release": "10.0.20348", "browser": "156.0.8078.4", "screenReader": "NVDA", "assetVersion": "0.2.1-2026.2", "viewport": {"width": 1280, "height": 900}, "nvdaExecutable": {"Name": "nvda.exe", "ProductVersion": "2026.2", "FileVersion": "2026.2.0.57664", "SHA256": "D239FD2BE81FC7D97F62616A6ACDFB08010B92DE6DF65CA314E19F2D8C03C8B0"}}

Limits: Automated operation of real NVDA; speech messages, not audio or participant research. Download activation not tested.

## Supported conclusions

The contrast pair #707972 on white had an unrounded ratio approximately 4.499795; its displayed 4.50 did not make the normal-text AA badge pass. This was a synthetic tool check, not a page assessment.

NVDA announced the result heading in the captured automatic output. Explicit reading exposed counts and error instructions. After reading the details, three Shift+Tab presses reached the input. Keyboard-only and NVDA sessions used different environments and revisions; they are separate records.

## Exclusions and next evaluation work

VoiceOver/Safari speech, mobile assistive technology, participant usability, authenticated journeys, third-party transactions and complete WCAG conformance remain outside these records. Inventory the wider product, agree on target and environments, select representative views and complete processes, and evaluate the missing criteria and states before making a wider claim.
